The YU7’s dimensions are 4,999 mm (L), 1,996 mm (W), and 1,600 mm (H), with a 3,000 mm wheelbase. It features a ternary lithium-ion battery sourced from CATL’s subsidiary, suggesting high-performance expectations. Visually, it carries a design language consistent with the SU7.

EV Factory Expansion in Beijing Nears Completion

Xiaomi’s automotive factory in the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area is finishing its second phase of construction, expected to go online by mid-June 2025. The facility spans 720,000 m², with Phase 1 already operational and producing the SU7 sedan. The expansion is geared to support mass production of the YU7 and future Xiaomi EVs.

Production and Delivery Outlook

Since April 2024, Xiaomi has delivered over 240,000 SU7 units. To meet rising demand, the plant has been operating double shifts, pushing beyond its initial capacity of 150,000 units/year. Still, order backlogs remain high with estimated wait times of up to 49 weeks and nearly 300,000 unfulfilled orders.

Future Growth and Expansion Plans

With Phase 2 nearing completion, Xiaomi is reportedly eyeing a Phase 3 buildout. Nearby industrial zones have been flagged for expansion, though no formal announcements have been made yet. The company’s strategic growth will likely include increased capacity and broader vehicle development.

What to Expect on May 22

The YU7 SUV will headline Xiaomi’s launch event starting at 7:00 PM Beijing time. Other major announcements will include the Xiaomi 15S Pro smartphone, the 7 Ultra Tablet, and the brand’s first in-house SoC, the Xring O1.
